TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Work Year – 10 Months
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Works with students in completing educational activities under the supervision of the classroom teacher.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Two years of college credit hours or passing score on the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment Test. Must maintain Georgia Paraprofessional Certificate which includes in-service training related to position
REQUIREMENTS:
- Demonstrated ability to relate and motivate all students with respect to learning styles to make learning meaningful, effective, contextual and involving positive interactions for the ongoing intellectual development of young minds.
- Ability to successfully integrate technology into the classroom while engaging students.
- Experience in working with sensitive information regarding students; able to perform duties maintaining confidentiality along with professional demeanor when interacting with students.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
The classroom paraprofessional assists the teacher in the following areas:
- Preparing adequate lesson plans.
- Providing a developmentally appropriate environment.
- Providing for individual differences.
- Implementing positive guidance techniques.
- Encouraging child participation.
- Taking proper care of school property.
- Conducting learning activities with the children.
- Preparing materials for instruction.
- Maintaining neatness in the classroom.
- Participating in daily routines such as lunch and bus supervision.
- Participating in in-service training.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by Supervisor(s).
- Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
- Conducts small group or individual classroom activities based on lesson plans developed by the teacher.
- Assists with student assessment, grading work and test and collecting data on student progress.
- Assists with school-wide supervision, such as loading/unloading buses.
- Performs other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator.
